Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853-1890), a representative painter of the Dutch post-Impressionism. Van Gogh was born in Zindert on March 30, 1853. In the early days, he had cut off his ears because of expressing inner grief. Van Gogh committed suicide on July 29, 1890 on the banks of the Oise River in France due to a mental illness that had plagued him for many years.


Van Gogh did business in his early years and became passionate about religion. He began to study painting after 1880. Van Gogh met with painters such as Bernard, Sinek and Gauguin in Paris. Van Gogh's early works were influenced by Impressionism and Neo-Impressionism. His representative works include "Potato Eaters" and "Seine Riverside". Van Gogh exhibited his work to the working class twice in cafes and restaurants. Soon after getting tired of life in Paris, he came to Arles in the south of France and began to pursue more expressive skills. At the same time, he was boldly explored the style of expressing his inner feelings freely in order to achieve the line and color Self-expression and the decorative and implied meaning of the picture. Van Gogh's works mostly use pointillism, with strong colors and bright tones. Later, he was inspired by innovative literary thoughts and inspired by Japanese paintings. When Van Gogh was alive, his works were not accepted by the world, and the painter himself was desperate. Not only was the work not appreciated by the world, but his life was poor, and he did not get the favor of his loved ones in love. It was not until 8 years after his death that Van Gogh emerged as a highly personalized painter, but at this time, Van Gogh no longer knew where the soul was.


Van Gogh's works have a profound influence on the painting art of the 20th century in the West. French brutalism, German expressionism, and lyrical abstraction that emerged in the early 20th century all depend on the role of his subject in the creative process, freely express his inner feelings, consciousness, and the relatively independent value of grasping the form, in oil painting creation. Van Gogh abandoned all acquired knowledge, ignored the doctrines cherished by the academics, and even forgot his own reason.
